最近我被診斷有A.A.A.D.D.(Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder)

有一天我決定要澆花,在車道打開水管後,我發現車子該洗了

當要走向車庫時,發現走廊矮桌上的信件(是我稍早由信箱拿出來的),我想應該在洗車前把信件處理一下.

所以把車鑰匙放桌上,將垃圾廣告信放到桌下的垃圾桶,此時卻發現垃圾桶滿了,所以決定把帳單先放回桌上,

先去倒垃圾,我突然想到既要出去倒垃圾,就可以順便把寫好的支票丟到信箱(美國的門口信箱有些可以放信讓郵差取走)

所以就打算寫支票,但看到只剩一張空白支票,而其他支票簿在書房,只好進書房去拿.

此時在書桌上見到我喝剩的可樂罐,我是要找支票簿沒錯,但必須把可樂罐拿開,才不會弄翻它.

因可樂已不涼了,我想應該放回冰箱,但我走到廚房時,看到廚房櫃檯上一大瓶待加水的花.

我把可樂放下,卻發現了我找一個早上都找不到的老花眼鏡,但我想還是把它放在桌上,先為花加水再說.

當我把個容器裝滿水後,卻發現不知誰把電視遙控器放在廚房檯上,我知道這樣一來,

晚上在書房看電視時一定會找不到遙控器,所以必須先把遙控器放回書房,但還是要先處理完花再說.

我加了水卻大部分都濺到地板了,只好把遙控器放回檯子上,拿些抹布來擦,

然後我走到走廊上努力回想我到底還要幹什麼,而到這一天最後結束的時候,

車子還是沒洗,

支票沒寄出,

廚房櫃檯有一罐溫可樂,

瓶花的水沒加夠,

支票簿上仍然只有一張支票,

我找不到遙控器,

找不到眼鏡,

我也不知道把車鑰匙放哪去了,

我很困惑為什麼一事無成,但我卻忙得要命,而且累斃了.

我知道這問題蠻嚴重的,必須找人幫忙,不過還是先看看email吧!

但請幫忙把我此信轉給你認識的所有人,因我也忘了曾寄給誰?

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. Somehow I feel better even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A..D.D. -Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

 

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

 

As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

 

I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,

and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.

 

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway,

I may as well pay the bills first.

 

I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left..

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,!

So I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.

 

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

 

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need water.

 

I put the Pepsi on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

 

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote,

But I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,

But first I'll water the flowers.

 

I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor..

So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.

 

Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

 

At the end of the day:

the car isn't washed

the bills aren't paid

there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter

the flowers don't have enough water,

there is still only 1 check in my check book,

I can't find the remote,

I can't find my glasses,

and I don't remember what I did with the car keys. Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,

I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day, and I'm really tired.

 

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail.....
